Dream Hopping

Dream Hopping Cover Art

Dream Hopping can be described as a type of lucid dreaming that involves jumping multiple dreams within one sleep cycle, kind of like changing the TV channel a burst of static then a new image before you. Dream Hopping made by Sewerperson gives off a pretty close feeling to what dream hopping would be like. Many of the songs follow far fetched stories that come and go with the song's beginning and end. The tracks and placement give off the sense of being constantly pulled out of the "dream" or in this case the song. Jumping between feelings of longing, excitement, fantasy, and the whimsy feeling of a dream. The vocals are quiet and spaceful, lulling you into a sense of calm and peace but also being capable of being extremely powerful when the songs call for it. To add on to that the produciton provided by Eric Godlow is surreal blending serene guitar playing with lonely pianos and the drums and bass of rap culture is a sound that few can replicate. The vocals and production when combined truly give a sense of peace and falling deeper into sleep. I truly think that this is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard and don't think I would be the same person if I never heard this album.
